The importance of knowing who we are.

We think better while we are walking, getting lost in anonymous streets, discovering unknown corners of the city.

Outside, far away, on beaches, rivers and landscapes whose name or location we would never mention in public, a few years ago, we thought to create a brand of 100 cotton socks called Calzefratelli.

Today, from home, we join the Fashion Revolution movement to tell you who, where, how and why we make the 100 cotton socks Calzefratelli. I mean, our story.

This story began in Rome, where the creator of Calzefratelli is from. Or, maybe in Naples, in the factories and markets that as a child he toured with his mother and his aunts, looking for treasures of haute couture, learning to distinguish raw materials and finishes.

It was there where he learned that well-made products are slowly made and the raw materials of higher quality and more value are always natural.

Years later, when he was living in Barcelona, he realized that most of the socks he saw on the market did not like him mainly because of the raw materials with which they were made: they all wore in their composition a good part of synthetic materials such as polyester.

After doing some good research, he decided he had to create his own brand of socks. A brand of socks 100 cotton like the ones before, like the ones I found in the markets that he toured with his mother, but with an unusual design

Quality, design, environmental sustainability and respect for human rights are the pillars of Calzefratelli. Because good design isn’t if you don’t take into account the environment and people. Likewise, offshoring was never an option

After years of research and testing, the socks were born 100 cotton Calzefratelli. They are classic cotton socks, with sober colors and a small drawing at ankle height that makes them unique and unmistakable.

They are manufactured in a small workshop in Barcelona. They do not carry synthetic materials, beyond the elastic of the ankle, and their packaging is minimalist and 100 free of plastic.

In its latest collection Calzefratelli has created socks 100 organic cotton with CERTIFICATE certificate, which guarantees ecological cultivation and fair working conditions throughout the yarn production cycle, with one of the most precious raw materials in the world: Egyptian cotton, famous for its long, soft and resistant fibers.

The Fashion Revolution movement demands transparency, ethics and sustainability in the fashion industry and emerged in 2013 in response to the terrible accident of Rana Plaza in which hundreds of people died, precarious workers in the textile sector.

That accident, neither the first nor the last, of an industry that increasingly prioritizes speed and low cost, showed that many of the big brands do not even know where they produce.

At Calzefratelli we stand out from this voracious way of producing and buying and we demand the slowness, quality, value of design, knowledge and innovation. We are committed to creating less but to create in the best way that we can at every moment 100 cotton socks of the highest quality.
